Total Metering Services (TMS) is snapping up people with specialist knowledge and skills to support its rapid growth trajectory and to build a pro-active safety culture. TMS currently installs and services over 100,000 digital meters per annum nationally.
Newcastle local, Caitlyn Craddock, landed her dream job with TMS shortly after completing a Diploma of Work Health and Safety online with TAFE NSW.
Ms Craddock said, “I recently took on the role of HESQ Coordinator at TMS and relocated to the Gold Coast, where the company is headquartered.
“I have been able to immediately put my practical skills and experience into practice to assist with the implementation of a new health and safety management system, along with helping the company to manage risks associated with quick expansion.”
The diploma also gave Ms Craddock a strong understanding of legislative requirements related to safety systems.
Being a national company, TMS works across multiple jurisdictions, highlighting the necessity to stay abreast of changing legislative requirements to ensure that all staff have access to the most up to date legislation, standards and industry regulations.
As well as implementing the Work Health and Safety Management (WHSM) system, key associated areas related to identifying and controlling risks, developing and reviewing safety documentation, as well as incident reporting and auditing make up Ms Craddock’s everyday workload.
TMS National Manager – HSEQ and Human Resources, Susan Jenkins, said, “Safety at TMS is a critical element of our whole business approach, due to the inherent nature of the high-risk industry that we operate in.
“Appointing Caitlyn to drive a proactive safety culture not only aligns with our core business principles, but also ensures we continue to maintain our ISO certification in the safety discipline of ISO 45001.”
Ms Craddock is no stranger to online study with TAFE Digital. In the three years she has worked in the industry she has graduated with seven TAFE NSW qualifications, including a Certificate IV and Diploma of Work Health and Safety, obtained multiple industry licences through onsite training, and is an incredibly young female to take on this critical role in a male dominated industry.
Being able to schedule her studies around work and personal commitments even gave her the flexibility to relocate from NSW to the Gold Coast, without a pause to her training.
