TAFE NSW Northern Beaches student, Jane Tieken has been awarded Vocational Student of the Year at the prestigious Central and Northern Sydney Regional Training Awards Presentation Event at The Concourse, Chatswood last night.
TAFE NSW students claimed four of the six awards on offer at the Training Services NSW event, including Maddison Camilleri who won Trainee of the Year, Tahni Roberts who won Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Student of the Year and Troy Ward who won Apprentice of the Year.
Jane said “It’s an absolute honour to be involved in such an exciting awards ceremony. I would not have been there if it weren’t for my amazing educator TAFE NSW who has helped me find a new and exciting career for myself.
“During the Diploma of Event Management I had the opportunity to work on ten different volunteer activities which really reinforced that making the move into events would see me in a career that I really loved.”
TAFE NSW Regional General Manager, Alison Wood congratulated Jane.
“These awards recognise our most passionate, industrious and skillful students, and they should be very proud to have been acknowledged for their excellence amongst their peers from across the region.”
TAFE NSW is determined to train students to the highest level, equip them with practical skills and the right work experience so they are ready to hit the ground running in their chosen field.
“I have no doubt Jane will go on to forge a highly successful career and will be a wonderful ambassador for TAFE NSW,” said Ms Wood.
The annual Training Services NSW event recognises and rewards the outstanding achievements of vocational students and demonstrates the extent of quality in the vocational education and training sector.
The winners of the Central and Northern Sydney Training Award will be considered for the NSW Training Awards held in September.
