1. Objectives – Policy Statement
TAFE NSW supports access to vocational training for students who are carers of children up to the age of six years through the provision of a number of campus-based Children’s Centres.
The policy aims to provide a framework for supporting the provision of Children’s Centres on TAFE NSW campuses.
TAFE NSW Children’s Centres are part of the TAFE NSW campus infrastructure in the same way as other student services.
2. Audience and Applicability
This policy applies to all TAFE NSW Children’s Centres.
The policy is in recognition that the provision of Children’s Centres acts as a means of reducing barriers which prevent students, who are responsible for young children, from having access to TAFE NSW education and training.
The policy reflects Commonwealth and State legislation, NSW Department of Education and Communities Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statement, and TAFE NSW Strategic Directions.
TAFE NSW children’s centres are licensed by the Department of Education & Communities, according to the
TAFE NSW Children’s Centres are accredited for the payment of Child Care Benefit through the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care, administered by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

4. Responsibilities and Delegations
The NSW TAFE Commission is the licensee of TAFE NSW children’s centres.
The Managing Director of TAFE NSW is the delegate of the licensee.
The most senior campus manager of a TAFE NSW location with responsibility for the control and management of the licensee of a TAFE NSW children’s centre is:
4.3.1 the delegated officer with authority to sign on behalf of the licensee all relevant licensing documentation for the TAFE NSW children’s centre and to ensure the facility is compliant with the National Quality Framework and the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority Assurance accreditation processes.
4.3.2 responsible for the day to day operational management of the campus children’s centre.
4.4 The Early Childhood Director:
is the designated authorised supervisor of the children’s centre for licensing purposes to manage the children’s centre and ensure the centre complies with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority Assurance accreditation processes and TAFE NSW Children’s Centres policy and mandatory procedures as set out in TAFE NSW children’s centres’ operation manual.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Requirements
TAFE NSW Student Services will monitor and evaluate the implementation of this policy within their area of responsibility.
The policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with representation from TAFE NSW Regions.
