Course overview

Course Description

This course is for people who want to work in formwork and falsework in
residential and commercial applications. You will learn how to carry out
excavation and general demolition of minor building structures and setting
out and levelling operations.
 
You will also learn how to work safely at heights; erect and dismantle
formwork for footings and slabs on ground, suspended slabs, columns, beams
and walls; operate elevated work platforms; install curtain walling;
construct timber external stairs, bulkheads and assemble partitions.

Entry Requirements

 There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS Induction
Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

You must complete each group as specified as well as following the course
completion instructions.   If a course contains optional groups there will
statement at the top of the course indicating how many you must do.  At the
top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
 
 
This course reflects the packaging requirements for CPC31511 Certificate
III in Formwork/Falsework (Release 2.0) within The CPC08 Construction,
Plumbing and Services Training Package (CPC08 Release 8.0). The rules from
follows:
 
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency
in: 25 units of competency:
- 19 core units
- 6 elective units.
 
A maximum of two of the required six elective units may be substituted by
selecting relevant units of competency from any Certificate III or IV
construction qualification or qualification in another endorsed Training
Package.
 
To satisfy the Training Package requirements, this TAFE NSW course has been
structured as follows:
 
A total of 25 units must be completed - 19 core units plus 6 electives
 
Group 1 - Core Units

Group 2 - Elective Units Listed in CPC31511

At least 4 units must be completed. The remaining 2 units can be selected
from Groups 2 and/or 3
 
Group 3 - Other electives from Certificate III or IV construction
qualification or qualification in another endorsed training Package

NOTES FOR STUDENTS
------------------
 
1. TAFE NSW recognises that students who hold WHS Induction Training
('White Card') have met the requirements for CPCCOHS1001A.  Students who
are required to complete this unit may apply for credit.  Consult your
teacher for further information.
 
2. LEARNER SUPPORT
Students who require support to meet their learning goals may co-enrol in
the Learner Support course (TAFE Course Number 9999). Talk to your teacher
think you may require learner support.
 
3. SELECTION OF ELECTIVES
Talk to your teacher and/or workplace trainer to ensure that your
combination of electives provides you with a suitable vocational outcome.
 
4. RECOGNITION
If you have completed other relevant training you may be eligible to have
units of competency from previous training counted towards completion for
this course. Talk to your teacher or workplace trainer if you think you
may be eligible for recognition for units previously completed.
 
5. PREREQUISITE UNITS
Some units in this course have prerequisites that must be completed in a
lower level qualification or selected as part of this course. Refer to the
Package or consult your teacher for information about prerequisites to
elective units.

Requirements to receive the qualification

To achieve CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework  (TAFE NSW course
10224), learners are required to complete 25 units of competency, comprising:
 
-   All 19 core units from Group 1
-   At least 4 and no more than 6 elective units from Group 2
-   Up to 2 elective units from Group 3.
