This course is for apprentices in the stonemasonry trade. You will learn
stonemasonry techniques and procedures for domestic and commercial
building, industrial construction, modern and traditional design.
You will also learn aspects of conservation, restoration and heritage work.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
However, before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS
Induction Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction

What you must do to complete the course
The course structure below shows what you must do to complete this course.
units/modules are arranged in groups and sometimes also in subgroups.
You must complete each group as specified as well as following the course
completion instructions. If a course contains optional groups there will
statement at the top of the course indicating how many you must do. At the
top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
This course reflects the packaging requirements for CPC32311 Certificate
III in Stonemasonry (Monumental/Installation) (Release 2.0) within the
CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package (Release 8.0).
The rules from CPC08 Release 8.0 are as follows:
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in
30 units of competency:
- 21 core units
- 9 elective units.
A maximum of two of the required nine elective units may be substituted by
selecting relevant units of competency from any Certificate III or IV
construction qualification or qualification in another endorsed Training
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the
National Code of Practice for the Induction Training for Construction Work
required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit
CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.
To satisfy the Training Package requirements, this TAFE NSW course has been
structured as follows:
A total of 30 units must be completed - 21 compulsory plus 9 electives
Group 1 - Core Units
All 21 core units must be completed
Group 2 - Elective Units listed in CPC32311
At least 7 units must be completed. The remaining units may be selected
from Groups 2 and/or 3
Group 3 - Other Elective Units from CIII or CIV qualifications in CPC08 or
other endorsed Training Package
Up to 2 units may be completed.
NOTES FOR STUDENTS
1. TAFE NSW recognises that students who hold WHS Induction Training
('White Card') have met the requirements for CPCCOHS1001A. Students who
are required to complete this unit may apply for credit. Consult your
teacher for further information.
2. LEARNER SUPPORT
Students who require support to meet their learning goals may co-enrol in
the Learner Support course (TAFE Course Number 9999). Talk to your teacher
think you may require learner support.
3. SELECTION OF ELECTIVES
Talk to your teacher and/or workplace trainer to ensure that your
combination of electives provides you with a suitable vocational outcome.
If you have completed other relevant training you may be eligible to have
units of competency from previous training counted towards completion for
this course. Talk to your teacher or workplace trainer if you think you
may be eligible for recognition for units previously completed.
5. PREREQUISITE UNITS
Some units in this course have prerequisites that must be completed in a
lower level qualification or selected as part of this course. Refer to the
Package or consult your teacher for information about prerequisites to

At least 9 elective modules/units must be completed. These may be chosen from groups 2, 3
Group 1 CORE UNITS
All module/units must be completed
Group 2 ELECTIVE UNITS LISTED IN CPC32311
At least 7 and no more than 9 module/units must be completed
Group 3 UNITS FROM OTHER TRAINING PACKAGE QUALS AT CERT III OR IV
No more than 2 module/units may be completed
Requirements to receive the qualification
To achieve CPC32311 Certificate III in Stonemasonry (Monumental/Installation)
(TAFE NSW course 10232), learners are required to complete 30 units of
- All 21 core units from Group 1
- At least 7 and no more than 9 elective units from Group 2
- Up to 2 elective units from Group 3.
