This course is for people who want be competent in the designing,
developing and building websites using a range of website technologies.

When you finish this course, you may be eligible for advanced standing in
ICA50611 Diploma of Website Development, or a range of other Diploma

Pathways into the qualification

Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:
-    after achieving ICA30111 Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and
Technology, or other relevant qualifications or units equivalent to the
core of ICA30111
-    with demonstrated vocational experience in a range of web-related work
environments in website development, administration or management.

What you must do to complete the course

The course structure below shows what you must do to complete this course.
units/modules are arranged in groups and sometimes also in subgroups.
 
You must complete each group as specified as well as following the course
completion instructions.   If a course contains optional groups there will
statement at the top of the course indicating how many you must do.  At the
top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
 
 
This course reflects the packaging requirements for ICA40311 Certificate
IV in Web-Based Technologies (specialising in Design and development)
within the Information and Communication Technology Training Package
(ICA11 V1.0). The rules from ICA11 V1.0 are as follows:
 
Packaging rules
===============
 
Total number of units - 22
 
8 core units plus
14 elective units
 
The elective units consist of:
 
- 5 from one of the following specialist groups:
 
* Group A Administration
* Group B Design and development
 
- of the remaining units:
 
* up to 9 may be from the specialist elective groups below or from Group C
general elective units below
* up to 4 may be from elsewhere in ICA11 or any other Training Package or
accredited course at Certificate IV or Diploma level
 
The elective units chosen must be relevant to the work outcome and meet
local industry needs.
 
 
To satisfy the Training Package requirements, this TAFE NSW course has been
structured as follows:
 
A total of 22 units must be completed - 8 core plus 14 electives
 
Group 1 - Core Units

All 8 core units must be completed
 
Group 2 - Specialist Elective Units listed in ICA40311
------------------------------------------------------
You must complete at least 10 units from the following 3 subgroups as
specified. You must complete 5 Design and development specialist elective
units from subgroup 1.
 
The remaining 9 units may be selected from any of the subgroups 1 - 3 as
specified below or Group 3.
 
Subgroup 1 Group B Design & development - at least 5 units must be
completed Subgroup 2 Group A Administration - up to 9 units may be selected
Subgroup 3 Group C General Electives - up to 9 units may be selected
 
Group 3 - Certificate IV or Diploma units from ICA11, any Training Packages
or accredited course

NOTES FOR STUDENTS

1. LEARNER SUPPORT
Students who require support to meet their learning goals may co-enrol in
the Learner Support course (TAFE Course Number 9999). Talk to your teacher
think you may require learner support.
 
2. SELECTION OF ELECTIVES
Talk to your teacher and/or workplace trainer to ensure that your
combination of electives provides you with a suitable vocational outcome.
 
3. RECOGNITION
If you have completed other relevant training you may be eligible to have
units of competency from previous training counted towards completion for
this course. Talk to your teacher or workplace trainer if you think you
may be eligible for recognition for units previously completed.

Requirements to receive the qualification

To achieve the qualification ICA40311 Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies
(Design and development) (TAFE NSW course 10315), learners are required to
complete 22 units of competency, comprising:
