Course overview

Course Description

This course is for people in the polymer injection moulding industries who
want to develop high level technical skills in their workplace. The course
combines on-the-job training and experience with off-the-job training.
 
You will acquire a wide variety of competencies most of which are complex
and non routine. The skills involve planning, developing procedures,
training and practice evaluation.

Career Opportunities

Technician and or supervisor in the plastics, rubber or cablemaking industry.

Articulation

Students who successfully complete this qualification will be able to articulate
into PMB50107 Diploma of Polymer Technology.

This course reflects the packaging requirements for PMB40107 Certificate
IV in Polymer Technology (with a specialisation in Injection Moulding),
(Release 2) within the PMB07 Plastics, Rubber and Cablemaking Training
Package (Release 2.0). The rules from PMB07 (Release 2.0) Training Package
follows:
 
Packaging Rules
 
To be awarded the Certificate IV in Polymer Technology competency must be
achieved in twenty eight (28) units of competency.
four (4) core units of competency
twenty four (24) elective units of competency, as specified below.
 
Note : Where prerequisite units apply, these must be considered in the
total number of units chosen.
 
Elective units of competency
 
Select twenty four (24) units of competency, as specified below:
a minimum of three (3) units from Group A
a minimum of two (2) units from Group B
the remainder of units may be chosen from Groups A, B and C, to bring the
total number of electives to twenty four (24) .
 
Note: Up to ten (10) of the elective units may be chosen from other
qualifications in this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages
and accredited courses, as specified in Groups B and C.
 
This Certificate IV Polymer Technology (Injection Moulding) is specifically
designed for the training of Injection Moulding tradespersons, either as
trainees or apprentices. To meet these requirements, twenty eight (28)
units must be completed, consisting of four (4) core and twenty two (24)
elective units taken from groups 2,3,4 & 5 as follows:

At least two (2) units must be completed from the following subgroups
contained in this group
 
Group 3. Elective Production  (Group A) Units from Certificate IV and
Diploma

PRE-REQUISITES
Any pre-requisite modules/units must be completed. Learners should seek

- Twenty two elective units from Groups 2, 3 and/or 4 including:
- Two (2) units from group 2
- At least three (3) technical units from Group 3
- At least two (2) units from Group 4
- Up to eight (8) units from Group 6
