Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to
manage the work of others or to add value to or review management
practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting.
Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their
respective industries or vocational areas and combine an informed
perspective of specific work requirements with their managerial
approaches. The qualification requires a sound theoretical knowledge base
and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate own work or
the work of a team.

What you must do to complete the course

The course structure below shows what you must do to complete this course.
units/modules are arranged in groups and sometimes also in subgroups.
You must complete each group as specified as well as following the course
completion instructions.   If a course contains optional groups there will
statement at the top of the course indicating how many you must do.  At the
top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
This course reflects the packaging requirements for BSB51107 Diploma of
Management within the Business Services Training Package (BSB07 - Release
8.0). The rules from BSB07 Training Package release 8.0 are as follows:
Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 8
8 elective units
5 elective units must be selected from the Group A units listed below.
3 elective units may be selected from Group A units or Group B units listed
below, from this Training Package or from any current accredited course
or endorsed Training Package at this qualification level. One unit may be
selected from either a Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma qualification.
Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry
requirements and the qualification level.
To satisfy the Training Package requirements, the TAFE NSW course has been
structured as follows:
A total of eight (8) elective units must be completed.
Group 1 - Group A Elective Units listed in BSB51107
You must complete at least five (5) units from this group. You can choose
all eight units from this group.
Group 2 - Other elective Units
You may complete up to three (3) units from the 3 subgroups within this
group as follows:
Subgroup 1:Group B elective units listed in BSB51109
-  You may select up to three units from this subgroup
Subgroup 2:Other elective units from any Training Package or accred course
CIV or Advanced Diploma qualification level
- You may only select up to 1 unit from this subgroup
Subgroup 3:Other elective units from BSB07, other TP's or accred courses at
Diploma qualification level
- You may select up to three units from this subgroup.
If you require support to meet your learning goals you can co-enrol in the
Learner Support course (TAFE Course Number 9999). Talk to your teacher if
you think you may require learner support.
Talk to your teacher and/or workplace trainer, to ensure that your
combination of electives provides you with a suitable vocational outcome.
If you have completed other relevant training, you may be eligible to have
of competency from previous training counted towards completion for this
course. If you think you may be eligible for recognition of units
previously completed, talk to your teacher or workplace trainer.
