Course overview

Course Description

This course is for electricians working in the field of renewable energy
(electrical/electronic).
 
The qualification provides competencies to design and validate/evaluate
renewable energy equipment and systems and provide technical advice/sales.
 
This qualification includes the UEE07 Training Package unit UEENEEG005B.
Learners will be eligible to apply for a Certificate III in
Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30807) qualification upon successful
completion of the UEENEEG005B unit plus its associated pre-requisite units
and elective unit requirements. The Certificate III in Electrotechnology
Electrician (UEE30807) qualification meets PART of the requirements for
issue of a 'Qualified Supervisors Certificate - Electrician' from the NSW
Office of Fair Trading which permits the holder to work unsupervised on
low voltage fixed wiring and equipment and to directly supervise others in
this work.

progression to a professional graduate engineer.

Early Exit Points

 Learners who complete the appropriate Competency Standard Units in
this course may exit with a qualification at lower AQF levels.
For example learners may exit with a Diploma of Renewable Energy Engineering -
UEE50707 or a Certificate IV in Electrical - Renewable Energy - UEE41907.

top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
 
 
This course has been designed to reflect the packaging requirements of the
Advanced Diploma of Renewable Energy Engineering (UEE60907), under the
Electrotechnology Training Package UEE07. The Electrotechnology Training
Package UEE07 states the following rules for this qualification.
 
The requirements for awarding this qualification are that the following are
successfully achieved:
-All of the Core Competency Standard Units.
-The required number of Stream Core Competency Units (two).
-The required number of Elective competency standard units as prescribed
in the respective Schedule (in accordance with Schedules 3,4,5 and 6,
which form an integral part of this qualification, achieve a Unit Strand
Total of at least 45, of which at least 14 shall be selected from Schedule
schedule 5 and not more that 10 from Schedule 4);
- All the required prerequisite competency standard units have been met as
required.
Note:
1. Prerequisite pathways shall be identified and met for all elective units
selected.
2. In selecting elective units considerations to career planning advice
should be given to units that form part of a prerequisite pathway for the
progression to achieve particular competencies or qualification at a higher
level.

To satisfy the Electrotechnology Training Package (UEE07) rules, to be
awarded the qualification -Advanced Diploma of Renewable Energy Engineering
(UEE60907),the TAFE NSW course structure requires successful completion of:
Group  1: All of the Core Competency Standard Units.
Group  2: At least two (2) of the Stream Core Competency Standard Units.
Group  3: Elective Units to a weighting of at least 45 points from the
included subgroups with weighting totals as indicated.
Subgroup 1:Not more than 10 points.
Subgroup 2:At least 18 points.
Subgroup 3:At least 14 points.
 
All the required pre-requisite competency standard units must be achieved
prior to completing each competency standard unit.
The pre-requisites listed below, embedded in Group 1 relate to competency
standard unit: UEENEEG005B Verify compliance and functionality of general
electrical installation.

To achieve a competency standard unit you must provide sufficient evidence
successful Performance of Competency and an understanding of the Essential
Knowledge and Associated Skills as prescribed in each Unit Guide.
 
This course consists of:
 
- Competency Standard Units (Groups 1, 2 and 3)
These are from the National Electrotechnology Training Package - UEE07 and
their groupings align to the qualification -UEE60907 Advanced diploma of
Renewable Energy Engineering. They are ungraded.
 
-Learning Specifications (Groups 4 and 5)
These modules do not count towards course completion but provide 
consistency in content, delivery, assessment and reporting mechanism
across RTOs of the Essential Knowledge and Associated Skills, which are
prescribed as part of the Critical Aspects of Evidence in each Competency
Standard Unit. Although the Competency Standard Units are ungraded, the
Learning Specifications provide a separate graded report on the learner's
understanding of the Essential Knowledge and Associated Skills, which is
the Electrotechnology industries preferred method.
These learning specifications form part of a program of study to complete
the Competency Standard Units and assist in a pathway through the National
Package.
 
- Support Modules  (Group 998)
These provide development and tutorial support to the learners to help them
achieve the qualification.
 
The course has been structured into the following groups:
Group 1 -   CORE COMPETENCY STANDARD UNITS
These units represent the substantial and/or technical focus part
of the overall group of competency standard units that make up the
qualification and its intended outcome.
 
Group 2 -   STREAM CORE COMPETENCY STANDARD UNITS
These units provide the flexibility required to support
enterprise quality assurance arrangements including administrative
matters related to enterprise practices and work outcomes.
 
Group 3     ELECTIVE COMPETENCY STANDARD UNITS
These units represent the work context or environment in which the
technical requirements of development are applied. They are
included specifically to meet particular work organisation and
skill requirements of enterprises and completion requirements.
 
Additional elective Competency Standard Units may be added to Group
3 on request, provided they meet the UEE07 Electrotechnology
Training Package requirements, such as prerequisite pathways and
AQF level.
 
Group 4     LEARNING SPECIFICATIONS FOR CORE UNITS
These national Learning Specifications align to the Essential
Knowledge and Associated Skills component of each Stream
Core/Elective Competency Standard unit as specified in the Unit
Guides
 
Group 5     LEARNING SPECIFICATIONS FOR STREAM CORE/ELECTIVE UNITS

Knowledge and Associated Skills component of each Stream

These provide support to learners to help them achieve the
qualification.
 
Note:
All TAFE NSW learners enrolled in mainstream courses who need
support to meet their course and learning goals can enrol into
course 9999 Learner Support. The course is fee exempt and students
will co-enrol into the course and their mainstream course. Students
needing support can re-enrol in the course as needed in different
semesters/years/courses.
