Construction and property

Do you enjoy working with your hands? If you want to take on major projects, a career in construction or property could be for you. Whether you’re working as a plumber, a builder, a carpenter or in another important trade you’re helping to secure and build great new structures.

Construction is the fourth largest employment industry in Australia with major building projects starting every day. You could do more than just build. Careers in the industry include the structural, architectural and engineering services needed to plan major work from initial designs to working with government and contractors.

You may want to start a career in real estate services, valuation and property management. You'll help others to buy, sell and lease land at the right time and right place. In an industry worth over $11 billion, you'll be working in an exciting market where you can help your clients secure their future property.

Real estate agents can earn $1000 a week, plumbers $1200, carpenters $1160, building site managers $1688 and architectural drafts persons $1522*.
