TAFE NSW Sustainable Energy Ideas Exchange

News

Industry and TAFE NSW partner for the future

TAFE NSW is bringing together professionals, educators, students from the Heating Ventilation Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry to exchange new ideas around sustainability.

Irfan Hai, Senior Head Teacher of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, says the 2017 GreenDay event – organised with emb-papst – is at Turner Hall, TAFE NSW Ultimo on Thursday 27 July.

“Speakers from industry and government will share their insights on the drivers for energy efficiency for HVAC&R systems, with presentations of case studies, project insights, discussions on broader government and state agendas, and a site tour,” says Irfan.

"There will also be a presentation by students from the TAFE NSW Associate Degree of Renewable Energy regarding the Stand-alone Solar Air-Conditioning System which was built with the help of a research grant of $20,000 from the ARBS Foundation Board.

"The testing facility is located in the mezzanine area of the Refrigeration section where system monitoring is taking place. Energy from solar panels is stored in batteries, and operates the air-conditioner in peak load times – 12 hours a day. Our industry partners have donated all the equipment for the project and our Associate Degree students have been involved since the design phase of the project.

“We have all worked together to ensure that there is cross collaboration and transparency in all aspects of the project.”
