Annandale Investment

TAFE NSW to invest $3 million to modernise Annandale campus

TAFE NSW is spending more than $3.0 million to upgrade its under utilised Annandale campus on Johnston Street. The work will allow industry-experienced teachers to train students and apprentices in new modern education and training facilities, so they can learn a wide range of in-demand skills that will lead directly to jobs and long-term career opportunities.

The work is part of TAFE NSW's landmark investment program to renew its facilities.

Work will commence on 10 April and is expected to finish by the end of June 2017.

What's involved?

Three of the existing buildings are being refurbished, with one of the demountable buildings being replaced by a new two-storey building, designed in a modern, modular format.

Importantly, much of the work for the new building is being conducted off-site prior to it being transported and assembled onsite, thereby causing as little disturbance to the campus' neighbours, students and teachers as possible.

The new building will house three additional classrooms and administration offices.

The campus will remain operational during the construction work.

FAQ:

How will this affect campus operation hours?

The campus will remain operational during the construction work.

When is the work taking place?

Work is expected to commence on 10th April and finish by the end of June 2017.

What time will work commence and finish each day?

Truck movements are being limited during school drop off and pick up times. Work on site will occur from 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays. Truck access to and from the site will be through the existing Johnston Street entrance
Will work take place on the weekends?
Work will take place on Saturdays from 8:00am – 1:00pm.

Will the works visually impact neighbours?

The new building will be strategically positioned on the site so there will be minimal visual impact on neighbours. As such, it will be barely visible from Johnston Street or from adjacent properties.

When are the modular sections of the new building scheduled for delivery?

We are currently awaiting confirmation of the delivery date and will provide an update as soon as we are able; however what we can advise at this stage is there are likely to be two delivery dates before the end of April.

What approval or certification does the development have?

The project satisfies the relevant requirements as a complying development and has received the necessary certification.
