TAFE NSW GRADUATE’S CAREER IN HR REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

A Haymarket local is kicking her career and study goals after moving to Sydney from Poland, having landed a role in the high demand human resources industry after graduating from TAFE NSW.

According to Job Outlook, Australia’s HR industry is experiencing very strong growth, with 11,000 additional HR managers required by 2025.

41-year-old Rita Prockow studied a Diploma of Human Resources Management at TAFE NSW Ultimo and now works as a HR Advisor at a consulting company.

“I decided to enrol in the Diploma of HR Management when my family relocated from Poland to Australia in 2020. I’ve always had a passion for HR and have worked in the industry overseas but wanted to gain an understanding of Australian HR standards so I could pursue a successful career locally,” Ms Prockow said.

“The TAFE NSW course was invaluable in giving me a deep knowledge of important facets of the industry, such as employee relations, recruitment, and leadership. Things like modern awards don’t exist in Poland – so it’s been interesting to learn how things work here in Australia.

“My current role as a HR Advisor is so rewarding, and I’ve been able to apply all the new skills I’ve learnt at TAFE NSW, along with the prior knowledge I’ve gained while working abroad. I’m looking forward to growing my career in HR and achieving my ultimate goal of becoming a HR Business Partner one day.”

TAFE NSW Business Studies Head Teacher Peter Luedecke said the Diploma of Human Resources Management is perfect for students looking to expand their horizons and gain job-ready skills.

“The Diploma of Human Resources provides students with a broad range of skills across management, workforce planning, recruitment, and work health and safety policies, procedures and programs,” Mr Luedecke said.

“Importantly, the course provides students with insight, inspiration, and in-demand skills which can be applied to a variety of settings and roles.”
