Business savvy TAFE NSW Glen Innes students graduate

Ten Glen Innes locals now proudly boast vastly improved computer skills after graduating from a TAFE NSW Certificate I in Information Digital Media and Technology course.

TAFE NSW Business Services Head Teacher, Kelly Cook, congratulated the students, who worked hard throughout the nine-month course to learn vital skills that will help them to keep up with today’s fast-paced, technology-focused world.

Ms Cook said, “A lot of these elderly Glen Innes students had not even turned on a computer before undertaking this course.

“Now, thanks to the state-of-the-art learning opportunities available at the TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre (CLC) in Glen Innes, they all have a new-found confidence to undertake important day-to-day tasks that will make their lives much easier.

“The graduates can now operate a computer and laptop, process word documents, create and use email, upload documents, use social media and access their banking online, and use equipment such as scanners and printers.”

Ms Cook said the graduates had provided positive feedback about the course, with some going on to enrol in a Certificate II Information Digital Media and Technology course to start next month.

Reg Hainsworth said, “I enjoyed the face-to-face contact with a great TAFE NSW teacher and now I know how to access the internet and do things like accessing banking, Centrelink and Medicare online.”

Julie Teal added, “The TAFE NSW teacher was so easy to talk to and always happy to help. I learnt so much about spreadsheets and PowerPoint that will come in very handy in my part-time job.”

Pamela Whitehead said, “I have so much more confidence with the computer and would now like to do the Certificate II Information Digital Media and Technology course at the Connected Learning Centre.”

Ms Cook said this course was a great example that it doesn’t matter what your age, knowledge or experience is, it’s never too late to come to TAFE NSW and learn.

“With enrolments now open for hundreds of courses at TAFE NSW for semester two, 2019, there’s never been a better time to upgrade your skills or get new skills for your dream career.”
