Celebrate World Pasta Day with a pasta masterclass at TAFE NSW

TAFE NSW Northern Beaches

World Pasta Day is right around the corner and to celebrate, TAFE NSW Northern Beaches has announced that a new pasta-making course is now on offer.

The TAFE Statement in the Art of Pasta is an interactive, short course that will have its students whipping up pasta dishes so delicious they will impress even the toughest of nonnas.

Taking place on Friday 25 October, the six-hour course will see students learn to prepare a range of pasta recipes including English spinach and ricotta agnolotti with roma tomato sauce, parsley pappardelle served with roasted pumpkin and cherry tomatoes, and roast butternut pumpkin tortellini with sage brown butter sauce.

TAFE NSW Commercial Cookery teacher, Craig Whitting said that whether it’s a local Italian restaurant or a fine dining experience, Australians have really embraced Italian food with some of Australia’s most exciting restaurants having distinctly Italian roots.

“This course will teach students everything they need to know, from making pasta from scratch, to cooking it and crafting authentic Italian sauces.

“It will explore the traditional Italian method of pasta making which my 85 year-old Italian mother-in-law uses, where you use a bit of flour, eggs, oil and salt. As well as the modern pasta making methods that leading Italian restaurants utilise.

“The students will also get to take home the recipes so they can continue to tantalise taste buds with their newly developed pasta making skills.”

Not only is the course perfect for professionals working in the industry who want to further develop their skills, it is also suitable for food enthusiasts who simply want to learn some new tricks and really impress their dinner guests.
