Scores of TAFE NSW Diploma of Nursing students graduated today/yesterday from their 18-month course via a large celebration at TAFE NSW Kurri Kurri auditorium. The five groups of students studied at TAFE NSW Newcastle and TAFE NSW Wyong. More than 25 students hail from the Hunter.

With nursing one of the occupations expected to see the highest rate of skills shortages in northern NSW between 2018 to 2021, the graduates are equipped with the skills they need to fill positions at local hospitals and care facilities.

All enjoyed more than 100 guests cheering them on for their dedication to education in earning an Enrolled Nurse qualification, which enables them to explore a career in areas such as Acute Nursing, Aged Care Nursing, Rehabilitation Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and as a pathway to study Registered Nursing.

Along with students’ families and friends, employment agencies and industry partners such as Healthecare and Healthscope attended the ceremony. Speakers included motivational speaker Sue Gilroy, president of the Singleton Chamber of Commerce, Founder of Cultivate Confident Cultures and a former nurse.
