Narrabri Shire Council staff upskill to meet the needs of the community

Narrabri Shire Council has made a significant investment in its current and emerging leaders to enhance operations and services to the community.

Twenty-five staff across Council functions will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management at TAFE NSW this year.

Narrabri Shire Council General Manager Mr Stewart Todd said Narrabri Shire Council is pleased to be working with TAFE NSW as we support our staff in gaining additional skills in leadership and management.

“Council is committed to the development of its workforce and provides learning opportunities to ensure staff succeed in their roles,” Mr Todd said.

“This is another great example of our commitment to staff development along with our school-based trainee and apprenticeship programs currently being run in collaboration with TAFE NSW.

“Council has a strong relationship with TAFE NSW and we look forward to seeing our staff develop professionally and most importantly using their new skills in delivering Council services to the community.”

TAFE NSW Teacher of Business Services Lynne Sheather said the delivery of the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management has been tailored by TAFE NSW to meet the needs of Narrabri Shire Council.

“Students are learning by attending face-to-face classes once per month, where they have the opportunity to mix with other Council staff members from a full range of services,” Ms Sheather said.

“The course will allow the students to develop their skills in emotional intelligence, operational planning and innovation and managing priorities.”
