TAFE NSW and Australia Post join forces for training rollout

11 February 2018

TAFE NSW and Australia Post today announced they are partnering to pilot an online employee training program to help post office workers upskill with formal qualifications.

With participants earning a Certificate III in Business or Certificate III in Retail, the pilot will see 50 post office network workers from across the country trained by TAFE NSW business services and retail teams who are based in Port Macquarie.

TAFE NSW Head of Skillspoint, Technology and Business Services, Dr. Geethani Nair says ongoing training and professional development of staff is crucial to the efficiency and effectiveness of any business.

“TAFE NSW is proud to partner closely with Australia Post to tailor training programs that develop its employee knowledge base,” she said.

“TAFE NSW is equipping the workforce of the future by offering customised training to Australia Post that positions employees to deal with the changing skills and knowledge needs of their industry in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

“To deliver training across the country we provide a digital learning platform that is easily accessible anytime and anywhere for all types of workers and, most importantly, provide a fantastic interactive user experience that makes learning simple.”

Australia Post’s General Manager Post Office Network, David McNamara, said that Australia Post was pleased to be working with TAFE NSW to explore this online training model.

“Australia Post is always looking for opportunities to provide employees with career growth paths and meaningful professional development and we look forward to following our team members through this learning journey,” he said.

TAFE NSW provides innovative business-to-business training to an increasing number of large organisations via TAFE Enterprise, which launched in June 2018. To cater to complex needs, program delivery utilises a range of digital and traditional techniques.

In Australia Post’s case teachers communicate with learners via an online training platform, videoconference, teleconference and a 24/7 shared mailbox.
