TAFE NSW graduate Anna’s back in business with exciting career change

TAFE NSW Parkes graduate, Anna Kusumawati, has traded in her cooking utensils for a career in business administration and couldn’t be happier.

After more than a decade working in hospitality, Anna felt she was ready for a new challenge. With the Australian Government’s Jobs Outlook website predicting more than 182,000 new general administration positions across the country over the next five years, Anna made the life-changing decision to study a Certificate III in Business Administration at TAFE NSW.

Anna said, “I am always eager to improve myself but knew that if I wanted to get out of the hospitality industry I needed new skills, so I chose to study Business Administration at TAFE NSW.

“The course was very practical and full of useful information. The teachers were approachable and supportive, and the qualification helped me secure employment at Service NSW Parkes.

“I really enjoy working at Service NSW Parkes. I’m learning all the time, the hours are much more friendly and this career change would not have been possible without the support of TAFE NSW.”

TAFE NSW Business Teacher, Shirley Redfern, described Anna as an extremely dedicated and talented student.

“Anna always strived for excellence and it comes as no surprise that she’s doing so well, highlighted by the fact she won the Marie Bashir Academic Award at this year’s Parkes Australia Day Awards,” she said.

“It was an incredibly brave decision for Anna to give up on a well-established career, but she is a fine example that career changes are within reach for everyone if you’re willing to work hard.”
