“Having a son with autism made me want to focus my efforts in helping people in similar situations,” Mr Brennan said.
“Studying at TAFE NSW has brought a sense of meaning and purpose to my life and the teachers were really flexible and supportive along the way.
“Thanks to TAFE NSW, I’ve been able to broaden my communication skills, learn day-to-day activities for residents to keep them active and engaged, work, health and safety and much more.
“I’m really enjoying putting my practical skills and work experience into practice in my role at Cooinda and I also plan to continue my studies in disability services at TAFE NSW Coonabarabran in the near future.
General Manager at Cooinda Coonabarabran, Leanne Redfern, said David was proving to be a great asset to the organization.
“David attended work placement at Cooinda during his training with TAFE NSW and impressed us with his compassion and willingness to learn that we offered him employment.

McCrindle research suggestsii, that in the next 30 years there will be 1.2 million more people aged over 85 than there are today, and the average older Australian will live 5 years longer than today which equates to adding 6 million more years of care just for the increased number of people over 85 and to manage their increased life expectancy.
