A class of TAFE NSW Goulburn beauty graduates are forging a successful path in the booming industry after a remarkable collective job outcome.

All but one member of the 2022 TAFE NSW Goulburn Diploma of Beauty Therapy class has secured work in the beauty field, many before they even graduated.

It comes amid sustained jobs growth in the beauty industry, with increased demand for services driving demand for beauty therapists, which are projected to number more than 50,000 nationwide by next year.

Aliyah Dalier-Crawford, 19, is one of many local graduates to earn the practical skills and experience at TAFE NSW Goulburn to make an immediate mark in the job. Just weeks before graduating from the Diploma of Beauty Therapy in late 2022, Ms Dalier-Crawford secured a job at Beachless Beauty in Goulburn.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be part of a client’s transformation when they enter the salon and watch how much they get out of it,” she said.

“My TAFE NSW course really set me up for success; I learned so much. Communicating with clients from different walks of life was something I thought I would struggle with but my TAFE NSW teacher helped me change my communication style depending on the client.”

Ms Dalier-Crawford hopes to open her own salon in future and specialise in manicures and pedicures.

TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Beauty Emma Cook said the job outcome for the TAFE NSW Goulburn class was due to expert teachers offering up-to-date, real-world skills to students.

“The industry is really booming at the moment and TAFE NSW graduates like Aliyah are in huge demand,” Ms Cook said.

“There is so much opportunity for growth, to own your own business or branch out into other modalities. It really is an exciting time to be in beauty and there’s no better way to enter the industry than with a TAFE NSW qualification.”

Ms Cook said the Diploma of Beauty Therapy offered students a wide array of skills, including manicure, pedicure, tanning, waxing, tinting, facials, body treatments and spa treatments.
