TAFE NSW MURWILLUMBAH LAUNCHES BACHELOR OF CREATIVE PRACTICE  

TAFE NSW Murwillumbah is helping to meet local demand for jobs in the thriving arts sector by offering a Bachelor of Creative Practice for the first time.

Commencing in Semester 1 2021, the hands-on degree will provide budding artists with the practical and theoretical skills needed to forge a career in the creative arts industry.

TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Jason Darney said the three-year degree has been developed with industry to provide students with a solid foundation for a career in the arts industry.

“The Bachelor of Creative Practice will provide students with the knowledge and experience they need to land a job and successfully navigate their career – whether that’s in-house as a freelancer or applying for commissions and grants,” Mr Darney said.

“Students will be able to hone their creative skills across a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media, while also developing their entrepreneurship and business skills so they can set themselves up for success.

“This degree combines online learning with practical training in TAFE NSW Murwillumbah’s state-of-the-art creative arts studio – so students can study when it suits them.”

Art Gallery Director at Tweed Regional Gallery Susi Muddiman said the degree will service the demand for quality visual arts education across the Northern Rivers region.

“It’s terrific that there is a new tertiary course available for artists in the region. Students will be able to take advantage of the excellent facilities at TAFE NSW Murwillumbah and it’s prime location in the ‘arts hub’, near the M|Arts Precinct,” Ms Muddiman said.

“Students will also be able to utilise our wonderful regional gallery as an excellent source material for their studies as they develop their skills and further their career in the sector.”

Applications are now open for the Bachelor of Creative Practice (Advanced Entry) at TAFE NSW Murwillumbah.
