Last night, eight TAFE NSW Nepean students were recognised for their hard work and dedication at the Inaugural Rotary Awards.
Held at the Entrée Restaurant at TAFE NSW Kingswood, the event saw the Rotary Club of Penrith award three $500 Rotary Scholarships to TAFE NSW students suffering from financial hardship and five $100 Rotary Awards to TAFE NSW students for their outstanding academic achievements.
Congratulating the TAFE NSW Nepean students on their achievements, the Rotary Club of Penrith’s Vocational Service Director, Barry Cook said, “The Rotary Club of Penrith is an avid supporter of local youth programs in the Penrith area. It is important that local students are provided with the opportunities to complete vocational training as they are our future workforce.
“We are pleased to sponsor the students from TAFE NSW Nepean and proud to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. They deserve this recognition for their amazing efforts.”
TAFE NSW Nepean commercial cookery student, Dylan Cutmore who was awarded the Rotary Scholarship was over the moon.
“I have never been nominated for anything before, so to find out that I was nominated for this award and to win it is the most amazing feeling.
“My life’s work is to become a chef and studying the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at TAFE NSW Nepean is putting me on the right path to achieve this dream.
“I’m currently very tight on funds and haven’t been able to purchase the things that other students have, so the Rotary Scholarship is really going to help me. I’ll definitely be purchasing myself a new cooking uniform and some brand new utensils that I can use when working in the kitchens at TAFE NSW Nepean.”
Impressed with the calibre of the award applicants, The Rotary Club of Penrith awarded an additional four TAFE NSW students with $50 vouchers to go towards their studies.
