TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Jason Darney
TAFE NSW Ourimbah is helping local residents to upskill and reskill with the introduction of a new suite of 11 short courses, including courses aligned to growing industries such as cyber security.
For the first time, courses including the Statement of Attainment in Cyber Security and Statement of Attainment in Create and Design Spreadsheets are being offered locally.
TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Jason Darney said the new range of short courses will help students gain the practical, job-ready skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
“I’m excited to announce the Statement of Attainment in Cyber Security is just one of the new courses being offered at TAFE NSW Ourimbah this semester.
“Other short courses being offered include the Statement of Attainment in Food Handling and TAFE Statement in Basic Barista Skills – which are perfect for those interested in pursuing a career in hospitality,” Mr Darney said.
Statistics from the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network show that Australia may need around 16,600 additional cyber security workers by 2026.
TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Information Technology Robert Potter said the new cyber security short course will equip students with the hands-on skills they need to take the leap into a lucrative career in cyber security.
“There’s an unprecedented demand for cyber security professionals across Australia – and the new cyber security short course will help give students an edge in the workplace.
“The course has been designed to equip students with the knowledge to recognise cyber threats, risks and vulnerabilities in the workplace and will open doors for students to further study or a rewarding career in the IT industry,” Mr Potter said.
