Mudgee local and TAFE NSW Dubbo student, Chloe Hopson is encouraging others to consider a rewarding career in early education and care as figures reveal a high demand for skilled early childhood workers in regional NSWi.

Ms Hopson began her exciting career in the early childhood and education industry by studying a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education at TAFE NSW Mudgee whilst completing a traineeship at Mudgee’s Puggles Childcare Centre. She is now part way through a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at TAFE NSW Dubbo and is already employed as a childcare assistant at the popular childcare Centre.

“Working with children is the most rewarding role; being a positive influence on children’s lives is something I’m so passionate about,” Ms Hopson said.

“I’ve struggled with dyslexia all my life and I wanted to make it my mission to help others and particularly children who have to deal with learning issues.

“TAFE NSW has really boosted my confidence to be able to talk to people and parents as well as provide me with the practical skills and work experience to educate children and enable them to have the best start in life.”

Puggles Childcare Centre Director, Belinda Roberts, said Chloe was kind, patient and nurturing towards the children at the Centre.

“She demonstrates an interest in each child’s education and emotional stability and is flexible with work hours, and her roles at the Centre.

“Chloe knows all the children and their families and is well liked by everyone; she’s a great asset to the organisation.”

TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Early Childhood Education and Care, Sally Devenish, said Chloe has worked hard to increase her literacy and numeracy levels over the past two years.

“She’s the perfect example of students coming to TAFE NSW to get the practical skills and knowledge to be in a career they love and are passionate about.

“There is currently a large demand for qualified early childcare workers in NSWii and enrolments are now open at TAFE NSW Mudgee and Dubbo for the Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care to cater for this demand.”
