TAFE NSW graduate and Mudgee local, Amy Ryan believes it’s never too late for a career change and is encouraging others to consider a career in the fitness industry as more than 20,000 new jobs are expected for fitness trainers over the next five years in Australiai.

Ms Ryan made fitness a priority after her fifth child was born, which led to a passion for wanting to encourage others to improve their health and fitness. She studied a Certificate III in Fitness (Group Exercise Instructor) face-to-face at TAFE NSW Bathurst and is now working at Raw Fitness as a group exercise trainer.

“I became so passionate about creating a healthy lifestyle not only for me, but for my children too. Studying at TAFE NSW helped me learn more about group exercise and how to help others achieve their fitness goals,” Ms Ryan said.

“It suited me to study three days per week at TAFE NSW and the course has given me the knowledge and confidence I needed to pursue a career in the industry and now I’m planning on studying higher qualifications with a view to opening my own business.

“The TAFE NSW teachers were so supportive and provided the equipment needed to execute a variety of group sessions. I’m now using the hands-on skills I developed at TAFE NSW empowering women in my role at Raw Fitness.

Raw Fitness Owner, Amanda Wilson, said Amy brings a positive energy to the gym and is fitting in really well.

“She’s doing a great job motivating and developing a strong relationships with our clients, which is really important.

“RAW Fitness prides itself on being able to tailor programs to suit women of all levels and abilities and that’s one thing Amy’s studies at TAFE NSW has helped her with.

“She’s able to adjust classes and ensure clients are undertaking the correct movements to ensure safety and efficiency in helping them achieve their fitness goals.
