Two TAFE NSW Port Macquarie students are combatting the effects of the pandemic by offering free filming and editing services for the promotion of local businesses.

Dynamic duo Felicity Cochrane and Jakk Baker are taking advantage of the current situation to pro-actively build their portfolio and gain practical experience while studying a Certificate IV in Screen and Media with a view to pursuing employment opportunities.

Ms Cochrane said that she was alarmed to see a number of local businesses struggling during this pandemic. 

“Jakk and I are keen to help businesses use techniques such as video marketing to generate new business and income, which they may not have used before.  

“Being able to create and include these videos in our portfolio while also helping local businesses get through such a difficult time is great for us and our community.”

The pair captured content for two Port Macquarie gyms while they were under restrictions to remain closed and are currently finalising a video for local charity Willing and Able.

Marketing Manager Linda Elbourne said this service is very beneficial to their organisation, which has the mission of providing meaningful paid employment and personal growth opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities.

“This benefits our staff along with the 40 plus individuals who we place into work and offer support to on a daily basis.

“We are very grateful for the in-kind services that Felicity and Jakk have provided us. They were highly professional and talented while on set and we are looking forward to utilising the promotional video.”
