TAFE NSW students awarded Dean Mobbs Gallery Scholarships

TAFE NSW Bathurst students Sarah Booby, Kiana Ryan and Marley Pearce have been announced as the recipients of the Dean Mobbs Gallery Creative Arts, Early Childhood and Hospitality Scholarships for 2019.

Local Artist Dean Mobbs established the scholarships in 2018 together with TAFE NSW to recognise individuals who display determination and high application to their studies and are looking to explore future educational and career opportunities.

“I hope that the scholarships of $500 each will give the students self-belief and motivation,” Mr Mobbs said.

Sarah, Kiana and Marley displayed a clear direction to learn new skills and achieve their goals, which aligned well with the purpose of the scholarships.”

Mr Mobbs said, “Sarah is studying a Certificate III in Screen and Media and is passionate about animation and creating characters. She wants to learn the skills necessary at TAFE NSW to bring these stories to life.

“For Kiana, studying a TAFE NSW Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and now a Diploma was the best decision she had made. She is now using her skills at Connect Child and Family Services while she continues her studies.

“Marley is equally as passionate, determined to own and run her own restaurant. By studying a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations she is on her way to realising her dream.”

TAFE NSW Student Engagement Officer, Robyn Isbester, was very appreciative of the support the students have received from the Dean Mobbs Gallery.

“Dean Mobbs is a positive role model in the community and it’s wonderful to see him offering financial assistance to encourage TAFE NSW students to succeed,” Ms Isbester said.

“This financial support will allow Sarah, Kiana and Marley to get the skills and experience they need to ensure they’re job ready for a career they’ll love.”

This is just one example of the support available at TAFE NSW to help students to become whatever they want to be. For semester two course enrolment information visit www.tafensw.edu.au or phone 131 601.
