The Chinese market is the biggest market for Australian wine[1] and due to the growing interest amongst Chinese consumers and industry professionals to learn about the wine industry, TAFE NSW Sydney Wine Academy are delivering a WSET Level 2 Award in Wines in simplified Chinese.

The course will be delivered by Andy Chen, a highly respected bilingual accredited WSET educator and TAFE NSW Sydney Wine Academy alumnus. With extensive background and knowledge of both the Chinese service industry and Australian wine, Andy has been instrumental to the delivery of Chinese courses in the industry-renowned training facilities.

During the five-week course students looking to start or further develop their career in the wine industry will learn about wine production, styles, storage and matching food with wine in state-of-the-art facilities at TAFE NSW Sydney Wine Academy.

TAFE NSW Sydney Wine Academy Course Director, Clive Hartley said research undertaken by TAFE NSW tells us that entry-level Chinese students benefit from acquiring foundation wine knowledge and skills in Chinese, before progressing to higher qualifications.

“Over the course of five weeks, students will learn about the factors that influence wine, the key grape varieties and their characteristics, the different production methods, label terminology and the correct ways to describe wine in the TAFE NSW wine sensory and tasting facilities.

“The course is not only ideal for industry professionals who want to develop their product knowledge, job skills and competencies in handling international wines, it’s also appropriate for wine enthusiasts who wish to expand their knowledge of international wines.”

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines delivered in Chinese will commence on Saturday 19 October 2019 at the TAFE NSW Sydney Wine Academy at Ryde.
