Upskilling at TAFE NSW the purrfect choice for Adilee

As people start to consider employment opportunities post COVID-19, a Cowra local is encouraging others interested in investing in their personal development to follow her lead by using this time to upskill.

According to a survey of over 2000 Australians by Hays, 77% of employers were more likely to shortlist those for a promotion or new role who had regularly upskilled.

Adilee Allan, a Cowra resident and qualified Vet Nurse at Cowra Veterinary Centre, wanted to develop the skills to be able take the next step in her career. She chose to study a Diploma of Leadership and Management online through TAFE NSW Cowra to assist her in making better decisions and learning about how to manage the operations of the veterinary business.

“Studying online and attending a workshop once per month at TAFE NSW Cowra has helped me to identify my strengths and weaknesses and provided me with the practical skills and experience to improve myself,” Ms Allan said.

“I was able to study around work and family commitments and the teachers were so supportive.

“The TAFE NSW course has enabled me to learn important skills in communication, continual improvement, staff management and empowerment and I’m using these newly found skills every day as I step into a more senior role at the Veterinary Centre.

“I would strongly recommend this course to others who want to increase their skills in managing and leading.”

TAFE NSW Leadership and Management Teacher, Jillian Pennisi, said Adilee was a committed student who worked hard to achieve her study goals.

“TAFE NSW helped Adilee be in control of her study journey equipping her with hands-on skills through flexible training options, allowing her to work and study at the same time. I commend her for her outstanding work.

“Now is the perfect time to upskill your business leadership and management skills as TAFE NSW continues to teach students through connected delivery methods.

“By studying online students can study when and where it suits them and also have access to a range of resources and teacher support to help them through their studies.”
