WINNING WINE LABEL: TAFE NSW NEWCASTLE GRADUATE WINS DESIGN COMPETITION

TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Jason Darney today announced the launch of a new label for TAFE NSW Kurri Kurri’s award-winning ‘INTUITION’ range of wines.

Designed by TAFE NSW Newcastle Graphic Design graduate Tammy Humby, the new label was unveiled at a launch event in the Hunter Valley today.

“It’s wonderful to see students participating in competitions like this, which allow them to utilise their skills in real-world scenarios and develop the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in their future careers,” Mr Darney said.

“The new wine label exemplifies the ways in which TAFE NSW teachers are fostering students’ creativity and delivering world-class, practical training in regional areas.

“Congratulations to Tammy for designing a winning wine label – and to the students and teachers involved in both the competition and in the production and bottling of the wine at Kurri Kurri.”

TAFE NSW Newcastle Diploma of Graphic Design graduate and competition winner Tammy Humby said she has always been passionate about art and is thrilled to see her label come to life.

“My design draws on inspiration from my time spent studying landscape design at TAFE NSW Kurri Kurri a few years ago. It pays homage to the wines’ birthplace by illustrating the natural landscape of the Kurri Kurri campus and its surrounds,” Ms Humby said.

“Throughout the Graphic Design course and wine label competition, I’ve been able to hone my technical skills and gain exposure to every element of design – from receiving the initial brief to delivering a finished product.

“Not only did the course result in me having a body of work I can present to future clients, but it gave me the confidence and skills required to start my own graphic design business called Designed for Good.”
