Wollongong’s Samuel Rose wins prestigious TAFE NSW award

10 April 2019

Wollongong resident Samuel Rose was recognised for his academic achievement and positive work ethic at the TAFE NSW Excellence Awards in Ryde on Monday.

Mr Rose, who completed Certificate III in Sports Turf Management at TAFE NSW Ryde in 2018, was announced as the winner of the prestigious Agribusiness Student of the Year at a gala awards ceremony at TAFE NSW Ryde.

“This award is a real confidence boost and is great for my career,” Mr Rose said.

“I’m really proud to have completed my Certificate III, and now to be recognised for the hard work I’ve been putting in is fantastic. To pick up the Agribusiness award is huge, that covers more areas of study than my field of Sports Turf Management.

“I’m very happy with TAFE NSW and would like to thank my Head Teacher Ian Clark.”

Mr Rose, who lives in Wollongong, is currently working on the construction of a new Greg Norman-designed golf course at Dapto.

“I have fallen in love with the industry and hope that my passion drives me to reach my goals into the future,” he said.

TAFE NSW Regional General Manager, Alison Wood, commended the winners for the commitment and dedication they have shown to their studies.

“These awards recognise our most passionate, industrious and skillful students, and demonstrate TAFE NSW’s commitment to train the workforce leaders of the future when, where and how it suits them,” Ms Wood said.

“TAFE NSW is proud of the winners’ achievements and we are confident that the exciting learning opportunities we created for these winners helped them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their career.

“We are proud to equip our students with practical skills and work experience so they’re ready to hit the ground running in their chosen field.

“It’s incredibly rewarding for TAFE NSW staff to watch students like Samuel grow in the knowledge that the skills and talents they learn with us have the potential to transform their lives,” Ms Wood concluded.
