ACMA Open Registration skill set

Qualification: Statement of Attainment

Duration: 35 hpw, 5 days 

This course is for customer premises cablers working in the telecommunications industry. It provides you with the training, skills and knowledge required to apply for the Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) Open and Restricted Cabling Registration.

Once you have successfully completed this course you may choose to continue your study in a Certificate or Diploma in Electrotechnology. Your Statement of Attainment can be used as credit transfer into a higher-level TAFE NSW course.

Course description

This skill set is designed for people wishing to undertake work in telecommunications cabling that requires an ACMA Open Cabling Registration.

Once you've completed the course you'll be issued with a transcript that lists national units

ICTCBL236 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule

ICTCBL237 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule

This will allow you to apply for an ACMA accredited cabling registrar for an Open Cabling Registration.

Entry Requirements

For new workers in Telecommunication industry a pre-requisite units ICTTEN201 Use Electrical skills in Telecommunications work, or equivalent must be completed.

ACMA Optical Fibre, Structured Cable and Coaxial cable competencies skill set (Bundle)

This course enables experienced cablers to install Optical Fibre, Structured Cable and Coaxial Cable in commercial buildings for computer and telecommunications networks.

It provides you with the training, skills and knowledge required to install fibre cable and obtain an Optical Fibre competency on your Open Registration license.

It provides you with the training, skills and knowledge required to install Coaxial cable and obtain a Co-axial competency on your Open Registration licence

It provides you with the training, skills and knowledge required to install structured cabling in commercial buildings for computer and telecommunications networks and obtain the Structured cable competency on your Open cabler license. This includes but not limited to Category 5 and Category 6 UTP. It provides you with the training, skills and knowledge required to obtain an SCS competency on your Open Registration license.

This skill set is designed for people wishing to extend their ACMA Open Cabling Registration with Fibre Optic, Structured Cabling and Coaxial Cabling specialist competencies.

Once you've completed the course you'll be issued with a transcript that lists national units;

ICTCBL301 Install terminate and certify structured cabling installation

ICTCBL301 Install and terminate optical fibre cable on customer premises

ICCBL303 Install and terminate coaxial cable.

Qualification: Statement of Attainment

Duration: 21 hpw, 3 days

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to install underground enclosures and conduit, either direct buried or in pits, for new or cable maintenance tasks in access networks for outdoor installations within client premises or in public locations permitted by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

Also the skills and knowledge required to install underground cable for communications applications in access networks or client premises.
