Course Details

This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

  • develop employability skills and knowledge at AQF level 1 to retrain or enter the workforce
  • identify realistic education, employment or community engagement goals and appropriate training pathways, including pre-vocational pathways
  • participate in a formal, supported or self-managed learning environment

The course involves face-to-face and self-paced flexible study on or off campus (negotiated with the Head Teacher). Students may attend the campus for up to 11 hours per week for 18 weeks and may complete the course in a shorter time-frame.

Prior to enrolment you will be interviewed by a teacher to help you determine if this is the most suitable course for you and to determine if any additional learning support will be required.

For more information drop in anytime at Learning Centre in the Northern Beaches Campus Library (Level 2, Block M). In addition you can drop into Upper Block C from 2 - 5 December 2019, on 10 December 2019, from 20-23 January 2020 or from 27-29 January 2020 and talk to one of the teachers.

This course is for people who want to improve their basic computing, reading, writing and employability skills for work, further study or for engagement in the commmunity.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
