ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have completed Year 10 at high school, or a Certificate II, are eligible to apply to enrol in the Certificate III in Career Advancement.
Students who have started the Higher School Certificate at school, but have not completed, will find this course a suitable alternative to Year 11.
You will be required to attend an interview and a Literacy and Numeracy screening prior to confirming your enrolment. Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Learning and Oral Communication skills levels of ACSF Level 3 or above are required.

To successfully complete this course, you will need Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Learning and Oral Communication skills levels of at least ACSF Level 3.
Attend regularly, participate in all activities and complete all assessment task.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a face to face fulltime course. You will need to attend approximately 17.4 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 3 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 38.9 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Independent research and learning; completing written assignments and projects; implementation of skills in authentic contexts for project work; experimentation with new technologies for communication and other purposes; completing self-study to revise and re-enforce areas of knowledge.

This course offering is designed for people who want an equivalent qualification to Year 11 and entry to further study in the Vocational Education and Training sector, or, access to a Year 12 equivalent course for further academic study.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
