This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:
- English language proficiency of level 1 on the ISLPR scale.
- English language proficiency to undertake qualifications requiring proficiency of ISLPR 1, IELTS 3.5 or CEFR A2 on entry, which provide a pathway to access employment, training and community participation.
This is a Face to face part-time evening course. You will need to attend approximately 6 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 36 weeks (one year)
You may also be required to complete approximately 9.7 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours ? completing self-study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge completing any assigned homework activities, filling in simple forms, sending simple SMS messages, storing information in smartphones, writing simple notes, copying simple passages, keeping a personal dictionary of words, reading simple signs, instructions, menus, and information, using dictionaries, reading brief personal messages, children?s stories, timetables, time and calendar information, having basic conversations on familiar topics, engaging in fundamental goods and services transactions, asking questions and listening to the answers, giving and understanding simple directions and instructions, giving personal information, making introductions, making an order in a restaurant or caf?, understanding short announcements, directions and instructions, requests for personal information, simple information, listening to music and songs, practising computer skills.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED
This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.
If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
