The nationally accredited Certificate I in Fundamental English for Speakers of Other Languages will teach you English language essentials. COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be enrolled in this course:

  • Applicants must come to a compulsory testing and interview.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • A minimum English language proficiency of ISLPR 1-, IELTS 3.5 or CEFR A2 across all skills of Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Full Time Face-to-Face course. You will need to attend approximately 19.1 hours of class, per week. As well as the in-class component, Timetable information is subject to change.

You may also be required to complete approximately 22 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including self-study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge, homework activities, various activities to practice the English language skills and knowledge acquired through supervised learning activities eg. Keeping a personal dictionary of words, filling in simple forms.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
