The nationally accredited Certificate I in Fundamental English for Speakers of Other Languages will teach you English language essentials. Gain confidence in your speaking, reading, writing and listening skills as you begin to communicate in every day English with friends, family, service providers, employers and your community.

Employers in Australia require English language skills so you can read, write and speak to customers, clients and work mates confidently. In this course, you will gain confidence in your English language skills. Be ready for employment and further study when you graduate, increase your participation in Australian society, access programs and support and increase your employment options by reducing language barriers.

This is a full time course. You will need to attend approximately 10 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 18 weeks.
You may also be required to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including self-directed speaking and listening and reading practice, homework and assessment preparation.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED
This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.
If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
