Course Details

This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

  • English language proficiency of level 1 on the ISLPR scale.
  • English language proficiency to undertake qualifications requiring proficiency of ISLPR 1, IELTS 3.5 or CEFR A2 on entry, which provide a pathway to access employment, training and community participation.

A minimum English language proficiency of ISLPR 1-, IELTS 3 or CEFR A1 across all skills of Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing.

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to the needs of local students and specific cohorts (like apprentices, fast-tracked students and online students). This means you will also need to meet any entry requirements listed below.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part-Time Day Face-to-Face course. You will need to attend approximately 12 hours of class a week, over 2 days per week, for 18 weeks. The timetable is subject to change and will be confirmed by your teacher on your first day.

You can also expect approximately 20 hours of additional study each week, including self-study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge, homework activities, various activities to practice the English language skills and knowledge acquired through supervised learning activities eg. keeping a personal dictionary of words, filling in simple forms, outside of class hours.

This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 2.30pm.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
