Course Details

This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

- English language proficiency of Level 2+ on the ISLPR® scale.

- English language proficiency to undertake qualifications requiring proficiency of ISLPR® 2+, IELTS 5 or CEFR B1+ on entry, which provide a pathway to access employment, training and community participation.

- English language entry requirement to TAFE NSW courses requiring IELTS 5 at entry.
There are no essential entry requirements or limitations for this course.

Entrants should have:

- a minimum English language proficiency of ISLPR® 2, IELTS 4.5 or CEFR B1 across all skill levels of Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing

- a proposed study pathway
You will be required to spend about 30 hours per week of your own time using English at home, in the Study Centre, and practising skills learned in class. You can expect to do approximately a total of 750 hours of self-directed study, which may include written, spoken or online activities.

An alternative information/assessment session will be on Wednesday, 23rd July, 2019, from 10.00am - 12.30pm at St George College, Main Campus, corner Princes Highway and President Avenue, Building D, Ground Floor, Room DG.04.

Did you know as a TAFE NSW student you have unlimited access to Lynda.com which is an online library of video courses in software, design, technology, communication, learning and business. These skills can help you to achieve your study goals. Visit the Student Portal to get started.
You will need to attend 20 hours of class a week over 4 days for 18 weeks. Learner Support hours will be available. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am - 3:00pm.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to Sydney TAFE and the government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

The fee category that will apply to you depends on your eligibility and your individual circumstances. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
