Course Details
For English beginners, the nationally accredited Preliminary Spoken and Written English course will help you to communicate in social situations. Practice speaking, listening, reading and writing and gain confidence in using English in everyday situations.

TAFE NSW REQUIREMENTS
To enrol in this course you must be an absolute beginner to the English language.
BE PREPARED
To be prepared for this course, you will need to make sure you can attend class regularly and practice speaking English at home.
To successfully complete this course, you will need to attend an initial assessment prior to enrolment to determine the minimum entry point against the International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) scale is 0 across the four macroskills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The minimum entry point against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) is Not Yet Achieved.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Full Time Blended course. You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class, 3 days a week for 18 weeks.
As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5.6 hours of other study per week.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 2.30 pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
You may be eligible for a concession and/or exemption. This will be confirmed during the enrolment process.

This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.
If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
