This is a part time day face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 10 hours of class, over 2-4 days a week, for 40 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 3 hours of other study per week.
You may also be required to complete approximately 3.8 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including review and revision of classwork.

This course offering is designed for people who:
This is a beginner course for learners who have just started learning English and who may have had minimal exposure to the language. It provides English language learning for EAL learners, primarily targeting newly arrived migrants and refugees who need to develop language skills to participate in a limited range of contexts. Other groups who benefit from this course include international students, long-term migrants and Aboriginal students. The certificate includes elective numeracy modules for those EAL learners who may also need to develop numeracy skills.
This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:
learning skills to enter formal learning environments
English language proficiency at the equivalence of International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR) 1+, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 4 or Common European Framework (CEFR) A2+
English language proficiency to meet some performance features of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) 1 indicators

This course is currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 2.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
