The nationally accredited Certificate III in Pathways to Further Study is a Year 11 equivalent course, designed to give you the academic know-how and practice for higher level study. You will learn the essential skills employers are looking for and be able to take the next step toward your study goals.

TAFE NSW REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for this course, you must:

  • Complete a literacy/numeracy assessment, and achieve ACSF level 3 or above
  • Attend an interview

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

This accredited course has no essential entry requirements however, the course entrants benefit from language and literacy levels of ACSF 3 and above, which are sufficient to interpret increasingly complex and unfamiliar documents, analyse texts and prepare written communications.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time day course. You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class, over 4 days a week, for 18 weeks. You may also be required to complete approximately 20 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours including, private study, revision and research preparation.

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • Certificate III in Pathways to Further Study is a Year 11 equivalent course and as such achievement of Year 10 is a suitable access point but not required.
  • TAFE NSW requires that potential students undertake LLN screening via RUReady quiz, participate in an interview and complete of a writing task. This process determines whether the potential student has the level of skills and knowledge required to complete the course in the required timeframe
  • Students must achieve results that show they are working within or above ACSF Level 3 to ensure suitability

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID 19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8.300am to 2.00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED

This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.
If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
