Course Details

This course is intended to provide learners with the following educational outcomes:

  • a pathway to, and articulation into, Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation
  • equivalent qualification to school Year 11
  • entry to further study in the Vocational Education and Training sector
  • entry to careers requiring a Year 11 equivalent qualification
  • research and high level written skills
  • critical thinking and academic learning skills
  • eLearning skills to engage with a range of technologies
  • preparation for further study in science, technology, engineering and mathematics vocational areas.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

There are no essential entry requirements for this course.

Entrants benefit from language and literacy levels of ACSF 3 and above, which are sufficient to interpret increasingly complex and unfamiliar documents, analyse texts and prepare written communications.

This course requires Certificate II or equivalent skills and knowledge for entry. In TAFE NSW, potential students undertake LLN screening through RUReady, participate in an interview and complete a writing task so it can be determined whether this course is an appropriate pathway. Students should achieve RUReady results that show they are working within ACSF Level 3 or above.

Students achieving Level 2 can still undertake the course, particularly when their demonstrated strengths align with the skills required in their nominated elective streams. All students must achieve ACSF 3 for reading, learning and writing. However, students achieving ACSF 2 for numeracy may enter the course but will not be able to access higher-level maths, science and statistics units.

Students with LLN needs may be able to access targeted support assessed on a needs basis. To engage support, students speak to the teacher regarding their request. Students can arrange appointments or teachers can arrange connections with support specialists from relevant units who are able to engage with students and provide specialist advice, assistance and equipment, where relevant.

It's all happening at TAFE NSW InfoFest. Register for an information session to broaden your skills set to get ahead. Can't find an Information Session for you? Enquire Online or call 131601.
