Course Details

This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to manage fire fighting and fire prevention on board ship, including managing shipboard fire fighting teams, and coordination of tactical fire fighting methods.

This course complies with the requirements of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) regulation: STCW Reg VI/3 and Code Section A-VI/3, Table A-VI/3

Participants will attend face to face session at the Hunter Maritime College (HMC) Newcastle Campus as well as practical and theory session at NSW Mines Rescue Station at Argention. Tranpsort will be provided to the fireground. This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to manage fire fighting and fire prevention on board ship, including managing shipboard fire fighting teams, and coordination of tactical fire fighting methods. Students are required to wear enclosed shoes and appropriate clothing.

A message for young people under 17 years of age - If you are under 17 years and wish to enrol you will need to have completed Year 10 or have special permission from school and TAFE to do so.
Classes are currently scheduled to run on Tuesday, 7.30am to 5.00pm and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.
