Course Details

The Certificate IV in Cyber Security is a technician level qualification that will provide graduates with the knowledge and a comprehensive set of technical skills that enables them to:
- monitor the risk of cyber security attacks
- implement appropriate software
- use a range of tools and procedures to mitigate cyber security threats
- protect an organisation from insider security breaches
- develop systems to minimise network vulnerabilities and risks.

Graduates of the course will be able to seek employment as cyber security practitioners in a range of commercial enterprises/organisations and government bodies.

Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although participants would be best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have the learning, reading, writing and literacy, and numeracy competencies to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). The Certificate IV Cyber Security course is specifically designed to develop skills and knowledge for a career as a Cyber Security Analyst in a range of commercial and government organisations. This course would suit school leavers or those wishing to up-skill/re-skill.

Entry requirements:
Whilst some knowledge of Computer Hardware, Operating Systems and Networking would be beneficial, this is not essential for learners who are able to commit additional hours for completing self-paced learning from online course material provided. Participants would be best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have the learning, reading, writing and literacy, and numeracy competencies to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Students may be required to:
1. Have a National Police Certificate (Criminal History Check)
2. Sign an ethical conduct agreement

The course runs over 2 semesters, Full Time, 16 hours a week over 2 days, which includes Face to Face classroom delivery & self-paced online learning.

The course content will include the following:
-The need for Cyber Security in an organisation
-Securing personal computers and IT devices
-Implementing a computer network infrastructure incorporating cyber security requirements
-Cyber Security data analysis
-Exposing website and other security vulnerabilities on a computer network using hacking, penetration testing and other tools
-Writing scripts to run and automate computer programs
-Planning, evaluating and testing for incident response
-Various soft skills including workplace communication, analysing and presenting research information, WHS & Copyright
-Working with a team to develop cyber policies and procedures to meet workplace and legislative requirements
Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 8 hours per day Face to Face in-class delivery commencing at 9:30 am and a min 6 hours of selfpaced/tutorials (subject to change)
