Course Details

This course is for students requiring foundation skills to achieve vocational competency in an industry training package qualification.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

Students must be co-enrolled in an industry training package qualification.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

  • Prior to enrolment you must come to an information session. At this information session you will be interviewed to make sure that this is the best course for you. Information sessions are on Tuesday 10th December, 2019 or Wednesday 22nd January 2020 between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time day, face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 4.5 hours of class, over 1 day per week, for 17 weeks.

Students are encouraged to make use of all opportunities at home, in the workplace and in the community to develop and consolidate their LLN skills eg -Searching the internet

  • Watching television/DVD/movie
  • Reading magazines, brochures, leaflets
  • Practising skills at home
  • Practising skills at work
  • Volunteering in a situation that will involve use of LLN and digital skills

    This course offering is designed for people who:
  • These participants require the skills to build literacy skills in preparation for work or further study in Australia. The students would typically have gaps in oral communication and writing and need to build skills in these areas

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
