Course Details

This course is for students requiring foundation skills to achieve vocational competency in an industry training package qualification.

Students must be co-enrolled in an industry training package qualification.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time day, face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 4.5 hour of class, over 1 day a week, for 9 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 3.5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including unstructured learning could be independent study, independent study in the study centre.

You will attend class for 1 day per week. Your weekly timetable will be Tuesday 9.30-2.30pm.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

This course is for people who would like to improve their reading, writing and spelling for personal uses, work or further study.
This course is for students in the Sydney Region who have either LLN, digital, learning/study challenges that prevent them fulfilling work or study goals or participating to their fullest potential in the community. They are of various ages and come from a range of backgrounds, including English and non-English speaking. Some are recent migrants to Australia and others have lived and worked here for many years but not had the chance to gain an education in English. Others were born here and wish to gain general skills. In addition, some existing workers require additional general skills to be able to participate in workplace training, satisfactorily perform their workplace duties or apply for promotional positions.

SERVICES AND STUDY SUPPORT
In addition to your class time you will be expected to study for at least 4 hours per week outside of class time to support your learning.
Those students who wish to study full time, you may also attend the Study Centre to work on your own individual program. The Study Centre is available Monday to Thursday 10-5 and Friday 10- 4.

As a TAFE NSW student in this course, you will have access to:

This course is currently scheduled for Tuesday 9:30am to 2:30pm. An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

You may be eligible for a concession and/or exemption. This will be confirmed during the enrolment process.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED

This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.

If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
