Do you need to learn English? Do you want to get a job, or study in Australia? The Statement of Attainment in Beginner English is for people with very limited English.

The course will teach you beginner English language skills, to allow you to begin to effectively communicate in English in a wide range of situations.

Choose flexible study options to study at a pace you can be comfortable with. As with all English language and ESL courses, we do require you to attend an interview to help us make sure the subject content is right for you.

It is important that you contact your local TAFE NSW campus and discuss this course with us before enrolling.

This nationally recognised training will give you a good start in work and study, opening up opportunities that are not available without basic English skills.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section

There are no formal educational requirements for this course.

The course is designed for people who have a minimum English language proficiency of 0+ on the International Second Language Proficiency Ratings (ISLPR) scale, or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 1 or equivalent.

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to the needs of local students and specific cohorts (like apprentices, fast-tracked students and online students). This means you will also need to meet any entry requirements listed below.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To successfully complete this course, you will need: - to have the underpinning knowledge and skills at ISLPR? scale 0+ , or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 2.5 or equivalent.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 10 hours of class a week, for 10 weeks. The timetable is subject to change and will be confirmed by your teacher on your first day.

You can also expect approximately 15 hours of additional study each week including, H (self-study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge, assigned homework activities,
everyday life skill tasks that reqiure English) outside of class hours.

This course offering is designed for people who: - who do not have the fundamental English language levels necessary to equip them for everyday life, employment and further study needs.

Thursdays and Fridays 9am to 2:30pm Learners are also expected to complete learning activities outside of classtime. (subject to changes).

You may be eligible for a concession and/or exemption. This will be confirmed during the enrolment process.SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
