The TAFE Statement in NSW Liquor Licensee Course (Advanced) is a mandatory training course for licensees who manage a liquor licence identified in the high- risk category. There is a focus on liquor laws and legislation, embedding a culture of compliance and developing your leadership skills.

INDUSTRY DEMAND

The hospitality industry has been steadily growing over the past five years at around 1.9%. This growth can be attributed to the burgeoning foodie culture, population growth and an increase in consumer demand. Employment in the industry is set to increase by 12.1% in the next five years, which means an additional 91,000 jobs.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

TRAINING PACKAGE REQUIREMENTS

To enrol in this course, you will need to provide evidence of the following:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol competency card endorsement
  • NSW Liquor Licensee competency card endorsement

There are no TAFE NSW entry requirements for this qualification.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

This course is subject to licensing requirements as set by the Liquor Regulation 2018 through Liquor & Gaming NSW.

This course is subject to licensing requirements as set by the industry regulator - Liquor & Gaming NSW. Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) is the foundation competency required in order to sell, serve or supply liquor. Depending on your duties you may also need Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG). The NSW Liquor Licensee Advanced course is a requirement for licensees, approved managers and club secretaries operating in a high risk venue or environment.

BE PREPARED

To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you work in the industry, have significant industry experience in a licensee role and that you have completed the standard Liquor Licensee course that is mandatory for all licensees operating a licensed business.

It is also recommended that you have:

  • Advanced leadership skills and ability to influence others
  • Strong communication and team building skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • you must prior have completed the 900-163121 Liquor Licensee course, to be eligible to attend this 900-163123 Advanced Licensee course

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to successfully complete all assessements

There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time, face to face course. You will need to attend approximately B hours of class, over G days a week, for I weeks/ X months/ X years. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately C hours of other study per week.

There is 6 hours of tuition and additional time for breaks including lunch. Please be on time for your class as there are very strict lock out rules set by Liquor and Gaming if you are late. You will complete all of the training and assessment in one day.

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • the Advanced Licensee course is additional training for owners, managers or supervisors who require a NSW liquor licence for a venue deemed by Liquor & Gaming NSW to be higher risk. Typically, this involves pubs, bars, clubs, hotels, nightclubs and other venues that serve liquor regularly after midnight. Please check the Liquor & Gaming NSW website for further information

This course is currently scheduled on Monday from 8:45am to 4:00pm.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
